Austin Aries Injury Update, Cruiserweight Division WrestleMania Plans

The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived might just wind up on the Grandest Stage Of Them All.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Austin Aries has been cleared to wrestle, having recovered from an orbital fracture that he suffered in a match with Shinsuke Nakamura at an NXT live event on October 27, 2016.

Since then, Austin Aries has been used primarily as a color-commentator for Cruiserweight Matches, both on Raw and on 205 Live on the WWE Network. His role has recently expanded to interviewing the competitors in-ring, something you can see in the video at the top of the page.

It looks like they might be using that new role to kick off a feud with the current Cruiserweight Champion, Neville. As a matter of fact, the WON notes that there has been some backstage talk about doing an Aries vs. Neville match for the Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania.

Nothing has been decided yet, but it's good to know that Aries will be stepping from behind the commentary desk and getting into the ring soon enough, and the talking he'll be doing will be done with his fists.
