Brad Pickett will be hanging up the gloves after UFC Fight Night 107.
While he'll be sad to leave the sport he loves, Pickett knows that he's departing on his own terms.
“I’m 38 now and it’s a really hard thing to do,” Pickett said on WHOA TV. “I want to leave with a bit of dignity. You don’t get easy fights in the UFC. It’s a really tough sport. I want to leave the sport on my terms instead of the UFC saying ‘see you later’.”
Pickett will be having his retirement fight in his home country of England, which is the same location where he made his UFC debut. After his in-cage career reaches it's end, Pickett wants to mold young minds in MMA.
“Not a lot of people have a get-out plan because they haven’t been in the game for that long,” Pickett said. “I want to pass my knowledge on and help younger athletes go to achieve great things. I think I’d be a good coach. I want to create my own Great Britain Top Team.”
UFC Fight Night 107 takes place on Saturday, March 18 from The 02 in London, England with Jimi Manuwa and Corey Anderson headlining.
