Cody Rhodes Addresses Rumors That He Has Signed With ROH

Cody Rhodes' days as a world-traveling freelancer do not appear to be over, just yet.

Earlier this week, MLW Radio reported that Rhodes had signed a full-time deal with Ring Of Honor. However, Rhodes refuted the report in a tweet on Wednesday:

The Young Bucks Thank Fans For Watching 4/24 AEW Dynamite, Highlight Thrilling Ending

That led Court Bauer of MLW Radio to respond when jibed by a fan on Twitter, with Bauer writing:

Since leaving WWE last spring, Rhodes has been aggressively pursuing opportunities with a variety of promotions all over the world. Within a single calendar year, he competed at the marquee events for WWE (WrestleMania), Impact (Bound For Glory), ROH (Final Battle) and New Japan Pro Wrestling (Wrestle Kingdom) while also appearing in major events such as PWG's Battle of Los Angeles tournament in 2016, and wrestling for a host of other promotions both in the U.S. and abroad.

Rhodes, who has been billed simply as "Cody" in TV appearances for ROH, NJPW, and Impact, recently told Sports Illustrated he didn't mind being unable to use the last name popularized by his father, "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, which technically remains the intellectual property of WWE.

Rhodes is set to challenge for the ROH World Title at Ring Of Honor's War of the Worlds iPPV on May 12. Rhodes will challenge the champion -- currently Christopher Daniels -- but the winner of a four corner survival match earlier in the night between Adam Page, Jay Lethal, Jay White and Silas Young also will be involved in the title match. That match, in combination with Rhodes not appearing at the latest set of Impact Wrestling tapings, fueled speculation that Rhodes was going to sign with ROH, or had already.

Rhodes is headed back to New Japan next month to face David Finlay, Jr., at Wrestling Dontaku on May 3.
