Dana White Makes Offer For Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather

Could Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather finally be happening? UFC President Dana White has made what he calls "a real offer" for the fantasy fight to be made.

White appeared on The Herd radio show on FOX Sports and opened up possibilities for negotiating the fight for real. He offered both fighters $25 million and possibly a cut of potential pay-per-view numbers.

"I'll you what Floyd, here's a real offer," White said. "I'm the only guy that can actually make the offer and I'm actually making a real offer: We'll pay you $25 million, we'll pay Conor $25 million and then we'll talk about pay-per-view at a certain number. There's a real offer."

White also talked about Mayweather thinking he will be the 'A' fighter of the bout, a term used to signify which headliner is the bigger star. White talked about Mayweather's disappointing pay-per-view numbers in his last fight against Andre Berto, which only drew 400,000 buys, despite White saying it only had 350,000 buys. Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao had more than 4 million pay-per-view buys.

"To think you're the 'A' side? How are you the 'A' side?" White said. "The last major fight that you were in [against Pacquiao], you left such a bad taste in everybody's mouth that nobody wants to see you again. His last fight did 350,000 pay-per-view buys. Conor did 1.3 million and 1.5 million buys. So, I don't understand how you think you're the 'A' side. There's a reason you want this Conor McGregor fight so bad, because you know that's your money fight."

McGregor last competed at UFC 205, defeating Eddie Alvarez to capture the UFC Lightweight Championship, becoming the first man to ever hold two UFC belts at two different weight classes at the same time.

At the Badou Jack vs. James DeGale press conference in New York City on January 12, Mayweather said he was retired and wasn't fighting anymore. Credit to ESPN for the transcription.
