Demetrious Johnson Wants Conor McGregor To Defend Title

MMA

UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson has successfully defended his championship a grand total of nine times since he won it by defeating Joseph Benavidez at UFC 152 in September 2012.

In fact, Johnson is the first and only flyweight champion in the history if the UFC and of all the current champions in the promotion, has the most title defenses.

Conor McGregor is a former UFC Featherweight Champion and the current UFC Lightweight Champion, Johnson thinks it’s time that McGregor actually defend the lightweight strap.

"I'd like to see Conor defend his belt," Johnson said on The Buzzer. "I'd rather see Conor fight the winner of Tony (Ferguson) and Khabib (Nurmagomedov)."

Of course, there is the long rumored boxing match as well between McGregor and boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr., in which Johnson thinks the UFC veteran can win.

"I think Conor has a good chance to beat him," he said. "Floyd is a master of not getting hit. I think Conor has a fight because it's boxing and you score points for defending."

Johnson last defended his flyweight title with a unanimous decision win over Tim Elliot at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale, his next title defense has yet to be scheduled.
