Match By Match Recap

NJPW BOTSJ Block A Match: Jushin “Thunder” Liger vs. Taka Michinoku

The match begins with Liger taking down Michinoku and wrenching on his leg, Liger quickly locks Michinoku on a modified surfboard maneuver. Michinoku gets to his feet and to the ropes to break the hold, the wrestlers go through a series of reversals that ends with Liger locks Michinoku in an octopus hold. Michinoku breaks free and he pops Liger with a few strikes, Michinoku goes for a headlock before releasing it to send a charging Michinoku out of the ring. Liger then catches Michinoku with a baseball slide drop kick followed by a swanton bomb from the ring apron, Liger brings Michinoku into the ring and he quickly drops him.

Liger looks for the Liger Bomb and he nails Michinoku with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker instead, Liger looks for a submission and Michinoku gets to the ropes. Michinoku rolls to the arena floor and he drags Liger outside the ring, Liger then throws Michinoku into the ring post before hitting him with a chair. Liger tosses Michinoku back into the ring before nailing him with a few strikes, Liger drops Michinoku and he locks him in the figure four leg lock until Michinoku gets to the ropes. Liger gets to his feet before assaulting Michinoku with chops, Michinoku surprises Liger by tripping him up and locking him in the cross face and Liger gets to the ropes after a long struggle. Liger drops a charging Michinoku with a Thesz Press for a near fall, Liger then hits Michinoku with a tiger bomb for a near fall.

Michinoku pokes Liger in the eyes and he rolls him up to get the three count.

Winner: Taka Michinoku

NJPW BOTSJ Block B Match: Tiger Mask IV vs. Volador Jr.

The match begins with the two locking up and nobody gaining a clear advantage, the two wrestlers then go through a series of reversals that end with nobody getting an edge. Mask IV catches a flipping Volador Jr with a drop kick before stomping away on him, Mask IV grabs an arm of Volador Jr and he starts looking for submissions until Volador Jr gets to the ropes. Mask IV waits for Volador Jr to get up before kicking at his arm, Mask IV drags Volador Jr to the ground and he goes for the Rings Of Saturn. Mask IV drags Volador Jr into the middle of the ring before going for the arm bar, Volador Jr rolls out of the ring to rest his injured arm. Mask IV catches Volador Jr with a baseball slide drop kick as he returns to the ring, Mask IV then attacks the injured arm of Volador Jr with more kicks.

Volador Jr recovers and he knocks Mask IV out of the ring with a hurricarana, Volador Jr then nails Mask IV with a suicide dive. Volador Jr tosses Mask IV back into the ring before going for a moonsault as Mask IV gets his knees up, Volador Jr recovers and throws Mask IV to the arena floor again. Volador Jr goes to the top rope and Mask IV meets him up there, Mask IV catches Volador Jr with a top rope arm drag followed by a tiger driver for a near fall. Mask IV looks for another hold and he winds up kikcing Volador Jr in the midsection, Mask IV then plants Volador Jr with a tombstone pile driver. Mask IV goes to the top rope and he misses the diving headbutt, Volador Jr avoids a kick from Mask IV before nailing him with a super kick.

Volador Jr and Mask IV battle on the top rope until Mask IV nails him with a top rope back suplex for a near fall, Mask IV locks Volador Jr in an arm bar and Volador Jr eventually gets to the ropes. Mask IV starts climbing the ropes and Volador Jr nails him with an enzaguri, Volador Jr drags Mask IV to the top rope before catching him with a Spanish Fly for the three count.

Winner: Volador Jr

NJPW BOTSJ Block A Match: Ricochet vs. Taichi w/Miho

The match begins with Taichi rolling to the arena floor to consult with his valet, Ricochet attacks Taichi with a knee strike when he enters the ring. Taichi rolls back out of the ring and Ricochet nails him with a suicide dive, Ricochet throws Taichi back into the ring and Taichi rolls right back out. Taichi then tosses his valet into the ring and she distracts Ricochet, Taichi grabs his microphone stand and he chokes a distracted Ricochet with it before tossing him out of the ring. Taichi follows Ricochet out of the ring to attack him further, Taichi then tosses a dazed Ricochet into the ring post before choking him again. Taichi brings Ricochet back into the ring and he nails him with the ring bell hammer, Taichi then rips at the face of Ricochet with the ring bell hammer before tossing it out of the ring.

Ricochet starst fighting back and Taichi rips away at his face again, Taichi then catches Ricochet with a running clothesline in the corner. Taichi misses a charge into the corner and Ricochet nails him with two boots to the face, Ricochet then nails Taichi with a springboard drop kick. Taichi regains control by again ripping away on the face of Ricochet, Ricochet recovers to drop Taichi on the top rope before nailing him with a neck breaker. Ricochet hits Taichi with a standing moonsault for a near fall, Ricochet misses a charge into the corner and Taichi nails him with a few kicks to the face for a near fall. Taichi misses a super kick and nails Ricochet with an enzaguri instead, Taichi then hits Ricochet with a super kick for a near fall.

Taichi grabs his microphone stand again and he misses his swing at Ricochet, Ricochet nails Taichi with a Benadriller and a top rope splash for the three count.

Winner: Ricochet

NJPW BOTSJ Block B Match: ACH vs. Bushi

The match begins with Bushi nailing ACH with a drop kick after shaking his hand, Bushi takes off his shirt and he chokes ACH with it. Bushi takes the opportunity to continuously stomp on a downed ACH, ACH recovers to nail a leaping Bushi with an atomic drop. ACH then cracks a downed Bushi with a series of baseball slide drop kicks, Bushi then sends a charging ACH to the arena floor. Bushi follows that up by catching ACH with a hurricarana on the arena floor, Bushi traps ACH in the ropes before nailing him with a DDT on the ring apron. ACH rolls to the arena floor while Bushi takes a breather in the ring, ACH rolls into the ring and Bushi chokes him in the corner. Bushi drags ACH into the middle of the ring before popping him with a drop kick to the back of the neck, Bushi follows that up by locking ACH in the STF.

ACH breaks the submission by grabbing the bottom rope, ACH recovers by kicking a charging Bushi in the face. ACH then slaps Bushi in the junk following a quick distraction, ACH then knocks Bushi out of the ring with a drop kick. Bushi gets to the ring apron and ACH knocks him off with a springboard drop kick, ACH follows that up by hitting Bushi with a springboard spinning heel kick on the arena floor. ACH tosses Bushi back into the ring before going to the top rope, ACH dives off and misses Bushi and then Bushi drops him with a neck breaker. Bushi and ACH have a forearm striking exchange in the middle of the ring, Bushi drops ACH after nailing him with a mule kick. Bushi catches ACH with a running double knee strike and a suplex for a near fall, Bushi then traps ACH in the ropes before catching him with a lung blower.

Bushi goes to the middle rope and ACH nails him with a drop kick as he dives off, ACH then hits Bushi with a tornado clothesline. Bushi then rolls up ACH from out of nowhere for a near fall, ACH gets mad and he clobbers Bushi with a lariat followed by a Michinoku Driver for the three count.

Winner: ACH

NJPW BOTSJ Block B Match: Kushida vs. El Desparado

The match begins with Desparado jumping Kushida as he enters the ring, Desparado mounts Kushida and attacks him with a plethora of strikes. Kushida recovers to drop Desparado before catching him with a drop kick, Desparado rolls out of the ring and rolls back in when Kushida looks for a dive. Desparado then sends a charging Kushida out of the ring before catching him with a suicide dive, Desparado then throws Kushida into the chairs the fans were sitting on. Desparado chokes Kushida with his boot before tossing him into the ring post, Desparado drags Kushida into the crowd before throwing him into an empty chair. Desparado grabs a chair and places it in the corner as he waits in the ring for Kushida, Desparado then throws Kushida into the chair in the corner.

Desparado finds a pen and he stabs Kushida in the head with it, Kushida starts fighting back and Desparado nails him with a running back elbow strikes for a near fall. Desparado takes Kushida’s shirt off of him before choking him with it, Desparado then traps the leg of Kushida in the ropes before twisting away at it. Desparado follows that up by hitting Kushida with a running drop kick to the leg for a near fall, Desparado continues to focus his attack on the injured leg of Kushida, Kushida recovers by nailing Desparado with a series of kicks that ends with a springboard drop kick, Kushida then attacks Desparado with more kicks and a handspring elbow.

Kushida follows that up by nailing Desparado with a rolling DDT, Desparado rakes the eyes on Kushida to regain control of the match. Kushida then hits a charging Desparado with a roaring elbow strike, Desparado recovers and nails a charging Kushida with a spine buster into a horse collar submission. Kushida eventually males it to the ropes to break the submission hold from Desparado, Desparado slams Kushida before going to the top rope, Kushida gets up to nail Desparado with a handstand kick to the face. Kushida follows Desparado to the top rope and the two have a striking exchange, Kushida takes Desparado off the top rope with a rolling arm bar and Desparado eventually makes it to the ropes. Kushida nails Desparado in his injured arm with a running drop kick, Kushida goes for the Hover Board Lock and the referee goes down from an errant strike from Desparado.

Desparado taps to the Hover Board Lock and the referee doesn’t see it, Desparado tries hitting Kushida with the ROH TV Title and Kushida catches him with a series of kicks. Desparado hits Kushida with an implant buster on the title belt for a near fall, Desparado follows that up by hitting Kushida with a modified tiger bomb for the three count.

Winner: El Desparado

NJPW BOTSJ Block A Match: Will Ospreay vs. Marty Scurll

The match begins with Ospreay and Scurll going through a series of reversals that ends with Ospreay controlling his opponents arm, Scurll starts working on the arm of Ospreay as well before another series of reversals. Ospreay drops Scurll with a shoulder tackle, Scurll and Ospreay then take turns taunting each other. Scurll then pokes Ospreay in the eyes before assaulting him with a few chops, Ospreay recovers and he nails Scurll with a springboard arm drag followed by a drop kick. Ospreay knocks Scurll out of the ring before pretending to go for a suicide dive, Scurll gets back in the ring and Ospreay drops him with a forearm strike.

Scurll gains control of the match by using an arm drag to smash Ospreay’s face into the mat, Ospreay recovers and he kicks Scurll in the face before going to the top rope. Ospreay dives and Scurll nails him with a boot to the face that propels him out of the ring, Scurll rolls to the ring apron before kicking Ospreay in the face. Scurll follows Ospreay around the ring while assaulting him with chops, Scurll tosses Ospreay back into the ring before smashing him legs on the mat. Scurll traps Ospreay in the corner next before attacking him with more chops, Ospreay gets angry and he nails Scurll with a striking combination of his own. Ospreay then cracks Scurll with a handspring enzaguri, Ospreay follows that up by dropping Scurll before catching him with a running drop kick in the corner.

Ospreay goes to the top rope and Scurll punches him in the face, Scurll goes to the middle rope and Ospreay traps him before nailing him with a super kick for a near fall. Ospreay goes for his finisher and Scurll simply slams him into the ropes, Scurll misses a charge into the corner and Ospreay traps him in the ropes. Scurll escapes and traps Ospreay in the ropes before catching him with a super kick, Ospreay escapes a chicken wing fro Scurll to nail him with a standing shooting star press. Scurll gets angry and he levels Ospreay with a lariat, Ospreay recovers to catch Scurll with an ace crusher that knocks him out of the ring. Ospreay then hits Scurll with a handspring suicide dive, Ospreay tosses Scurll back into the ring and he nails him with a springboard clothesline.

Ospreay goes for The Rainmaker and Scurll counters by snapping his fingers, Scurll eventually catches Ospreay in the chicken wing to force a submission.

Winner: Marty Scurll

NJPW BOTSJ Block B Match: Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru

The match begins with Kanemaru locking Taguchi in the headlock, Taguchi breaks free and he trips up a charging Kanemaru. Taguchi starts nailing Kanemaru with his patented hip attacks, Kanemaru then sends a charging Taguchi around the ring until he gets tired and falls to the ground. Taguchi looks for some rest and Kanemaru stomps away on him, Kanemaru then catches a leaping Taguchi before dropping him with a back suplex. Kanemaru brings Taguchi to the arena floor before planting him with a DDT, Kanemaru places Taguchi on the ring apron before nailing him with a drop kick. Kanemaru tortures Taguchi further by simply standing on top of his head, Kanemaru locks Taguchi in the camel clutch as he hunts for the submission finish.

Kanemaru releases the submission so he can stomp away on a downed Taguchi, Kanemaru starts focusing his attack on the behind of Taguchi. Kanemaru drags Taguchi back to the mat before locking him in a head scissors, Taguchi eventually gets to the ropes to get out of the head scissors. Kanemaru goes right back to stomping away on a downed Taguchi, Taguchi tries fighting back and Kanemaru sends him flying across the ring. Taguchi then drops a charging Kanemaru with a flying hip attack, Taguchi follows that up by nailing Kanemaru with a series of running hip attacks. Taguchi then catches Kanemaru with a springboard hip attack for a near fall, Taguchi starts taunting Kanemaru and Kanemaru nails him with a drop kick in the corner.

Kanemaru and Taguchi exchange a series of clotheslines and hip attacks, Taguchi tries taunting Kanemaru again and Kanemaru nails him with another drop kick. Kanemaru follows that up by nailing Taguchi with a tornado DDT and a reverse DDT for a near fall, Kanemaru then hits Taguchi with his diving DDT from the middle rope for a near fall. Kanemaru misses an enzaguri and Taguchi catches him in an ankle lock and then Taka Michinoku hits the ring to distract the referee. This allows Kanemaru and Taguchi to exchange low blows, Taguchi knocks Kanemaru into Michinoku and rolls him up for the three count.

Winner: Ryusuke Taguchi

NJPW BOTSJ Block A Match: Hiromu Takahashi vs. Dragon Lee

The match begins with the wrestlers exchanging a ton of chops in the middle of the ring, Lee catches Takahashi with some forearm strikes as well. Takahashi goes for a hurricarana and Lee winds up landing on his feet, Lee then knocks Takahashi out of the ring with a hurricarana of his own. Takahashi gets to the ring apron and Lee nails him with another hurricarana that knocks them both to the arena floor, Lee then hits Takahashi with a suicide dive. Lee throws Takahashi back into the ring and he locks him in the Boston crab, Lee traps Takahashi in the corner while assaulting him with strikes and a running drop kick for a near fall. Takahashi recovers and he propels a charging Lee into the corner, Takahashi stomps on a downed Lee before nailing him with a running clothesline into a drop kick for a near fall.

Takahashi then traps Lee and he tries ripping the mask off of his face, Takahashi slows things down by pulling back on the arms of Lee. Lee recovers by dropping Takahashi with a knee lift before nailing him with a running drop kick to the face, Takahashi rolls out of the ring and Lee gives chase. Lee eventually catches Takahashi with a sunset flip power bomb on the arena floor, Lee gets back into the ring and Takahashi follows him in there a short time later. Lee then hits Takahashi with a suplex into a tiger driver for a near fall, Lee traps Takahashi on the top rope. They both come off the top rope and then take turns nailing each other with German suplexes, Takahashi and Lee then start exchnaging strikes while on their knees. Takahashi and Lee get to their feet and they continue exchanging blows, Lee then drops Takahashi with a knee strike to the face.

Lee goes back up to the top rope and Takahashi meets him up there, Takahashi goes for a top rope victory roll and Lee counters with a double stomp for a near fall. Lee looks for his modified tiger bomb and Takahashi counters with a guillotine choke, Lee eventually gets to the ropes to break the choke. Takahashi then hits Lee with a fireman’s carry side slam for a near fall, Takahashi follows that up by hitting Lee with a death valley driver into the corner. Takahashi again looks to rip the mask off of the face of Lee, Lee catches Takahashi with a roll up for a near fall. Lee and Takahashi exchange roll ups for a series of near falls, Takahashi then gets into yet another striking exchange with Lee, Takahashi crushes Lee with a second rope destroyer for a near fall.

Takahashi picks up Lee and he nails him with another death valley driver into the corner, Takahashi then cracks Lee with a wheelbarrow slam. Takahashi looks for another destroyer and Lee counters with a death valley driver into the corner, Lee catches Takahashi with his finisher to get the three count.
