Frank Trigg Says GSP Made A Good Choice Picking Bisping Over McGregor

Frank Trigg knows Georges St-Pierre well.

The two locked horns in 2005, with GSP emerging victorious. The legendary welterweight St-Pierre is finally returning to MMA after a three-plus year absence, and Trigg says he doesn't blame St-Pierre for fighting Michael Bisping as opposed to the bigger name in Conor McGregor.

"If the loses to McGregor, that hurts," Trigg said. "A guy who was fighting at 145, just moved up to 155. Now he's supposed to fight (Conor) at 155 or 170 as the greatest 170 that ever was? If McGregor would have beaten him, he'd have lost a lot of favor."

Trigg, on Thursday's Fightful MMA Podcast, expanded on his line of thinking that the UFC Middleweight Champion in Bisping was the better choice.

"With Bisping, it's a bigger guy, a current guy. If he loses to Bisping, it doesn't do much damage to him. Conor is a little more of an accurate hitter than Bisping, but Bisping is a harder hitter because he's bigger. GSP is not a big power puncher. There's going to be a question about his chin after the Hendricks fight," said Trigg.
