Gegard Mousasi Wants A Ranked Opponent, Reveals Big Offer

MMA

Former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Gegard Mousasi defeated Uriah Hall at UFC Fight Night 99. After offers to fight for the Light Heavyweight title in 2016, Mousasi is looking to return to action at Middleweight this coming April and he wants a top 15 opponent.

“I’m looking for a fight (this April),” Mousasi told MMA Junkie. “They’re booking fights, but the fights that I want, they don’t give to me. I said I’m open from No. 1 to No. 15, but everyone, I don’t know. One is on holiday. One said he is injured but is training all the time. Anderson Silva doesn’t want to fight me because I don’t have a name, but he’s fighting Derek Brunson. I don’t know. It’s crazy.”

Mousasi has been offered a fight with former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman, but Weidman is currently on an extended break.

“They offered Chris Weidman a couple times, but he says he’s on holiday. Hopefully he’s back this week and he says, ‘Yes,’ because he got the fight offered a couple times. I don’t know. I’m waiting. Whittaker, that’s a fight I want, but he says he wants to go on holiday for six months. I don’t know. These guys don’t want to fight, or I don’t know what they’re doing,” said Mousasi.

Mousasi, outside of holding the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Title, also held championships in the Dream promotion out of Japan.
