Imagine a scenario where The Young Bucks and The Broken Hardys engaged in a brutal, months-long feud that crossed back and forth from Ring of Honor to TNA Impact Wrestling, culminating in a match at the Hardy Compound.
According to a new report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that's precisely what was originally intended. Of course, the Hardys contract situation and the subsequent falling out between Impact and the Hardys put an end to all that.
The Hardys, of course, had already debuted in Ring of Honor during Final Battle back in December, and a match was made for April 1st in Lakeland, Florida as part of Supercard of Honor. That match is still going on as planned, only now with the Hardys as ROH Tag Champs.
Originally, however, The Bucks were set to debut in the Impact Zone at the April tapings, setting off a storyline where they and the Hardys each would have worked multiple dates for both promotions, ostensibly with both the ROH and TNA tag titles changing hands at least once. There would have been matches at PPVs for both promotions, a match at the Hardy Compound, and a probable blow-off ladder match.
Alas, it all came crashing down when Anthem and Impact decided to play hardball with The Hardys during negotiations and they decided not to re-sign.
Apparently though, Jeff Jarrett was still interested in working with the Young Bucks, with or without the Hardys, but when Anthem's lawyers threatened PPV distributors, leading Dish Network to drop the 15th Anniversary Event from their programming, that effectively killed any potential collaboration between Ring of Honor and Anthem Impact Wrestling.
