Marty Scurll recently completed his first tour with New Japan Pro Wrestling and came away very impressed with how well-managed NJPW's touring operation runs.
Scurll provided a behind-the-scenes glimpse at New Japan tours during an appearance on the latest episode of The Steve Austin Show.
Scurll made his New Japan Pro Wrestling debut in May as part of the field in the 2017 Best of the Super Juniors tournament.
"I loved every minute of it, honestly," Scurll said of his experience on the tour. "The thing is with New Japan, it's always such a well-oiled machine. … The routine's amazing. You stay in a hotel, they say call time for the bys is 10 o'clock. You make sure your ass is on that bus by 9:45, you get your bags, the young wrestlers will put the bags on the bus for you, you get on the bus, you've got a nice big seat, you've got plug sockets [and] Wi-Fi."
That organization runs through the entire time at the building as well, according to Scurll. He said most events began at 6:30 local time. The bus would arrive usually two hours beforehand and would be leaving mere moments after the final match.
"As the last match is going on, everyone puts their stuff on the bus," he recalled. "Everyone puts the main event [wrestlers'] stuff on the bus. So as soon as the main event finishes, they get out the ring, they get on the bus, boom, we hit the road. We hit our next hotel and we're out for dinner by 9. It's brilliant. They do that every day."
As part of the Bullet Club, future NJPW tours seem likely for Scurll, who also participated in the two New Japan shows held in Long Beach, CA, earlier this month.
