NAC Official Says Conor McGregor Wants International Judge For Super Fight

UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor is less than two weeks away from his professional boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather.

While judges have yet to be selected for the super fight, a Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) official says that McGregor wants an international judge chosen for the fight.

"The McGregor camp has requested an international judge. We will see if we think that's fair, and we will take it into consideration. We try to be flexible and adaptable. We're customer service orientated,” NAC head Bob Bennett said to Sky Sports.

The NAC will select judges and the referee for the fight on August 16, the McGregor camp didn’t ask for a specific international judge for the bout.

Bennett also wants the fighters and the fans to know that when the officials are selected for the fight, they are going to be the best for the job.

"The referee that is approved will have a proven track record of working on high-profile fights, and a proven record of being consistent under pressure. He will be a world-class referee. He will keep an eye on both of them. It's a boxing match. I've had conversations with McGregor's manager to explain the rules and regulations. I explained that it's incumbent upon him that McGregor has an intimate understanding of these rules,” says Bennett.

Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
