The New Day did not really know what was going on while hosting Wrestlemania.
At Wrestlemania 33, The New Day had no match but were the hosts of the event. They came out in front of the crowd for a few segments including introducing the returning Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy. In an interview with Gorilla Position, The New Day was asked about their experience as hosts. They said it posed different obstacles than wrestling on a show as they did not know much about what was going on.
"Actually we didn't know a lot of what we were doing. They gave us a trailer and were like 'just wait here and we'll tell you guys what you're doing.' It's like 'we're the host, tell us what's going on,'" said Kofi Kingston.
At the beginning of Wrestlemania 33, The New Day appeared in outfits inspired by the Final Fantasy video game franchise. This was the only aspect of their day they were expecting.
"It was like fifteen minutes before we'd go out for stuff, they would be like 'ok this is what's going on, do this' We're like 'we'll just make stuff up, ok let's go.' The only thing we really knew was we were going to do the Final Fantasy stuff," said Xavier Woods.
The New Day also talked about their rivalry with The Usos and attempted to take full credit for Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy's return to WWE. The New Day will defend their Smackdown Tag Team Championships at WWE Summerslam.
