Pete Dunne Knew The UK Tourney Would Go Over Well

Pete Dunne says he hopes WWE's United Kingdom brand becomes bigger. 

During the WWE United Kingdom Tournament and the events following, Pete Dunne has been prominently featured. He was in the finals of the tournament which saw Tyler Bate become WWE United Kingdom Champion. Then, Dunne was on an event in Norwich, England where he became number one contender. He won the WWE United Kingdom Championship at NXT: Takeover Chicago in a match that was praised by many. In an interview with Inside The Ropes, Pete Dunne talked about the pride and motivation he got from the WWE United Kingdom events.

"It's been amazing and there's a lot of pride that comes with it, to have sixteen guys from an independent background, never done T.V. stuff before. We're the same ones like 'we need to kill it.' Going forward, it's a case of we don't know what the future is. We want a U.K. show  so we're trying to kill it every single time," said Dunne. "I'm really proud about the whole thing," he added. 

Going into the tournament, Dunne knew he and the other wrestlers were going to perform well. After the tournament is when Dunne saw the fans were excited about the event. 

"I had a lot of confidence going into it. We knew they picked the right people for the job. Everything is to scale of what it can become now," said Dunne. "When I saw that go up on social media and I saw the response to it and obviously the live crowd's response. That's when I knew 'ok, they're invested' which means it's going to be great. Hopefully going forward we can make a big thing of this," he continued. 

Dunne also spoke about his interactions with William Regal and the reaction of the fans when they teased a confrontation. Dunne credited Regal for his commitment to the United Kingdom brand. He said Regal's passion rubs off on him.
