"I think at a certain point, it became an unspoken thing. Then I remember, probably Toronto...a Takeover in Toronto,  it was mentioned to me. They were like 'hey listen, there's probably going to be opportunities for you elsewhere. So be ready,'" said Samoa Joe "I didn't find out about the official debut until the day before the (Royal) Rumble and the plan was laid out to me," he added.

He and Jericho would discussed the disappointment of fans when Samoa Joe did not show up in the royal rumble match. Samoa Joe said it was "surreal" seeing fans upset, but knowing he was debuting the following night.

"That's part of the fun connection coming from NXT to here, it builds that anticipation," said Samoa Joe.

Not only was his debut sudden, Samoa Joe said the suit he wore in some interviews was also last minute.

"I get to T.V. and Vince is like 'does he have a suit?' They are like 'no.' He's like 'get him a goddamn suit.' So, I ran out with one of the stage hands and got fitted. We paid Svetlana, this lovely lady, normally she does it in a week for alterations but we kept throwing money at her until she was like 'ok I'll have it done in two hours.'" said Samoa Joe.

At WWE Payback, Samoa Joe will wrestle Seth Rollins, the man he attacked and injured in his debut. Also during the podcast, Samoa Joe talked about his interactions with Vince McMahon, his thoughts while moving to the main roster, and being in the ring with guys like Triple H, Jericho, and Finn Balor.
