After weeks leading up to it, TNA has their first Grand Champion.
Aron Rex, who performed in WWE as Damien Sandow, won the TNA Grand Championship at Bound For Glory by defeating Eddie Edwards via split decision. The match served as the finals of a tournament that had taken place over several weeks.
Edwards was a late replacement for Drew Galloway. Galloway made it to the finals of the Grand Championship tournament, but was forced out with an injury and replaced this weekend. Edwards was defeated by Galloway via split decision in the semi-finals.
The 34-year old Rex is also a former WWE Tag Team Champion, and Money in the Bank Winner. He also held several championships throughout his WWE developmental career.
