Top AAA Star Leaves Company

AAA took a big hit this past weekend, as top star Pentagon Jr. announced that he's leaving the company.

Pentagon Jr. made an appearance on Saturday with Daga and Garza Jr at The Crash Luchas show in Tijuana, Mexico. Both Daga and Garza have also left AAA.

Pentagon announced that he'd be going by the name PENTA EL 0M (Cero Miedo), as AAA owns the name Pentagon Jr., and Lucha Underground owns Pentagon Dark. Daga and Garza will be able to continue using their names after leaving AAA. The three were wearing Perros de Mal gear during their appearance. The faction is one of the most popular in the country and a large source of income. AAA does not own the trademark to it.

The Crash is booked by former WCW talent Konnan, who also books Rey Mysterio, who in turn still maintains a healthy relationship with AAA and Lucha Underground. Konnan has been trying to expand this year, looking for a TV deal in Mexico.

AAA has been suffering losses like this a lot in the past year, with rumors circling as to their financial stability--or lack thereof. Several talents have left the promotion (i.e. Konnan, Sexy Star, Jack Evans and Fenix) and all have given less than glowing reviews of their experiences with AAA.

What this all means for El Rey Network's Lucha Underground is a little foggier, as they are currently on a mid-season hiatus and aren't set to tape -- as of now -- until November. It's unknown as to whether or not Pentagon will continue to be booked there. He's played a major role in all three seasons of the show so far.

Pentagon Jr and Fenix, who are brothers n real life, will call themselves the Lucha Brothers and continue to take more dates in the US, capitalizing on their popularity in Lucha Underground. They are regulars at Chicago’s AAW promotion and appeared at PWG’s Battle of Los Angeles weekend in September.

On Sunday, the day after his announcement, Pentagon lost to Johnny Mundo at the AAA Guerra de Titanes event in Mexico City.
