Mariah May Explains Why She Changed Her Finisher In AEW, Says It Reminds Her Of The Bella Buster

Mariah May didn't want to use a tombstone or piledriver in AEW.

Since debuting for the company in January 2024, Mariah May has cemented herself as a top player in the world of AEW, picking up wins over the likes of Anna Jay, Lady Frost, Queen Aminata, and Trish Adora.

In AEW, May has been using a sit-out fireman's carry slam as her finisher, which is different from her STARDOM days, where she used a tombstone piledriver on several occasions.

While speaking to Ring The Belles for a new interview, May talked about why she changed up her finisher once she got to AEW.

“Well, I noticed a few people do tombstones or piledrivers in AEW, so I wanted to come up with something a little bit different. I looked around at the roster and I know I’m like one of the tallest, so I definitely wanted to do something where I got them on my shoulders and popped them over. I like that, I like the sit out because it reminds me of the Bella Buster. I thought it was a nice Diva finish. Mayday, I just thought it was a great name.”

Elsewhere in the interview, May commented on comparisons to Tiffany Stratton. Learn more here.
