Matt Riddle: Zack Sabre Jr Knows What He's Doing In The Ring

Matt Riddle discusses his time in NJPW.

Matt Riddle joined New Japan Pro-Wrestling after his 90-day non-compete clause was up following his WWE release in September. Riddle made a quick impact, defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi to win the NJPW World TV Title.

At NJPW Windy City Riot, Riddle lost the title to Zack Sabre Jr.

Speaking to Knockouts and 3 Counts, Riddle reflected on joining NJPW and facing ZSJ.

"New Japan definitely has more of a shoot style of wrestling, like sport wrestling. WWE is sports entertainment, New Japan is more combat sports wrestling. With my style, especially with the TV Championship, it worked out very well. I got to wrestle Zack Sabre Jr the other day, even though I lost the championship to him, it was a great match, he knows what he's doing in the ring, I know what I'm doing in the ring. He's one of those people who can actually protect themselves if things get a little wild," he said.

It is unknown if or when Riddle will compete in NJPW again.

Riddle is a free agent, working various independent promotions and MLW.
