New Report Alleges That The Rock Showed Up Hours Late To Production Of 'Red One', Other Movie Sets

A new report has surfaced detailing The Rock's behavior on recent movie sets.

The Amazon/MGM Christmas adventure movie, which is currently set to release in November 2024, features an all-star cast of Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, J.K. Simmons, Lucy Liu, and Kiernan Shipka. Production on the film took place in Atlanta, Georgia from October 2022 to February 2023.

According to The Wrap, people on the set had trouble with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's behavior throughout the filming process. The outlet says that Johnson would often show up as much as eight hours late to set, which caused the movie's budget to inflate by nearly $50M. The Wrap went on to name a number of productions that have faced issues with Johnson's tardiness in the past like 'Ballers', 'Rampage', 'Red Notice', and films from the Fast & Furious franchise. Insiders claimed that Rock's issues with showing up to set on time come from his refusal to work more than a four or five hour day.

Furthermore, the outlet also alleged that Johnson was three hours late to WrestleMania XL Saturday, where he teamed with Roman Reigns to face Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. Chris Legentil, WWE’s EVP for Talent Relations and Head of Communications, responded to and denied this accusation, “Dwayne was not only on time for WrestleMania, he was hours early to help with rehearsal and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire run.” Fightful was told that The Rock was at the venue all day for WrestleMania XL rehearsal.

The Wrap also alleges that on past films, Rock would some times pee in a Voss water bottle on set instead of going to a real bathroom just to save time. The outlet noted that they weren't told that this happened on the set of 'Red One'.

The outlet continued to detail issues from the production of 'Red One', nothing that some insiders claimed that Johnson used some of the movie's budget to help his production company, Seven Bucks Productions, film promotional content for the XFL and Johnson's liquor brand, Teremana.

The Rock hasn't appeared in WWE since the April 8 episode of Raw, where he said that he has to go away for a little while. Rock also said that he'll be coming for Cody Rhodes when he returns. Fans can learn more about that segment here.
