WWE 205 Live Results 8/15 Akira Tozawa Begins His Reign as WWE Cruiserweight Champion & More!

This is the Fightful.com live coverage for WWE 205 Live! Tonight a new champion begins his reign as Akira Tozawa is the first Japanese superstar to hold the cruiserweight title in over a decade, but Neville won't take it lying down so we can expect him to challenge for a rematch at Summerslam this Sunday night. -We open the show with a video package for Akira Tozawa defeating Neville on RAW and becoming the WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

Cedric Alexander & Gran Metalik vs Tony Nese & Drew Gulak

Nese and Cedric start it off before Metalik and Drew tag in, Metalik showing off his athleticism and speed by rapidly running the ropes and doing flips before they double team Drew. They tag in and out and keep Drew isolated in their corner and their side of the ring before Drew turns Metalik inside out with a shoulder block for a quick two count. Gulak tags Nese back in who drops Metalik with a right hand only for Metalik to drop him with a sling blade and a missile dropkick. Nese comes back with a gutbuster when Metalik gets distracted by Gulak for a quick two count before Metalik comes back with a frankensteiner. Metalik tags Cedric in as Gulak tags back in, Cedric dropping Drew with a series of kicks before dropping him again with a hand spring roundhouse kick for a near fall that Nese breaks up.

Nese then tosses Metalik out of the ring before Cedric hits Drew with the Lumbar Check for the pin and the win.

Winner: Cedric Alexander via pinfall

The Brian Kendrick vs Mustafa Ali

Ali takes him down immediately and repeatedly for a series of quick two count before Ali hits an enzuigiri into a rolling neckbreaker for a near fall. Ali then goes for an inverted 450 splash, but Kendrick kicks his legs out from under him before locking in the Captain's Hook, but Ali gets to the ropes for the break at the last second right before tapping. They get out of the ring and Kendrick smashes Ali into the ring steps before Jack Gallagher attacks him from behind for the disqualification.

Winner: The Brian Kendrick via disqualification

-After the match Jack beats on Kendrick in the ring until he escapes into the crowd.

Rich Swann vs Ariya Daivari

Rich drops Daivari repeatedly to start the match with a flurry of offense, dropping him with clotheslines and dropkicks before sending him out of the ring. Daivari gets out of the way when Rich runs at him before tossing him back into the ring. Daivari puts Rich in a submission that Rich is quick to get out of before hitting a huricanrrana and a series of clotheslines for a quick two count. Swann then hits a roundhouse kick before going for the phoenix splash, but is distracted by TJP before Ariya pulls him off and hits his finisher for the pin and the win.

Winner: Ariya Daivari via pinfall

-Titus comes out and has Akira come out before they celebrate Akira becoming the WWE Cruiserweight Champion before Neville interrupts them and says that he will reclaim the title at Summerslam. They then brawl around the ring before Tozawa hits a tope to the outside, then gets back in the ring and holds up his belt as we go off the air.
