Tomohiro Ishii Wins NJPW Strong Openweight Title At NJPW Windy City Riot

Tomohiro Ishii is the new NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion.
Gabe Kidd scored the first pinfall via the Doctor Bomb. Ishii secured everything with a Triangle Choke. Then, Gabe attempted to leave as the time ran out, but, like Bret Hart at WrestleMania 12 in 1996, he was forced to continue the bout and retain his title in overtime.
In overtime, Ishii won with a Brainbuster. This ended Gabe’s run with the STRONG Openweight Title at 336 days.
