Report: Details On Beast Mortos Returning To Arena Mexico After Issues With CMLL

At AEW Grand Slam Mexico, The Beast Mortos competed in Arena Mexico for the first time since 2011, replacing Claudio Castagnoli in the main event.

Mortos competed for CMLL from 2008 to 2011, but left the promotion in June 2011 and began working for AAA by August 2011.

Lucha expert Cubs Fan reports that CMLL did not look kindly on Mortos almost immediately jumping to AAA and that he and Mortiz “did a secret tryout match under other identities with AAA prior to jumping while they were still doing CMLL dates.”

The report also notes that Mortos did not enjoy his experience in CMLL and had no interest in going back.

The report states that because Mortos was in Mexico for AEW Grand Slam Mexico, and AEW needed a replacement for the main event, the parties were able to work out their issues to allow Mortos to compete.
