Mark Briscoe Is Still ‘Getting His Footing’ As A Singles Competitor, ‘You Have To Pace Yourself’
Mark Briscoe is still adjusting to the singles division.
Since his brother’s tragic passing in 2023, Mark Briscoe has exclusively competed in singles and multi-man tag team matches. When it comes to one-on-one affairs, Briscoe has struggled, recently losing to names like Kazuchika Okada, Jon Moxley, Ricochet, and Konosuke Takeshita.
In a new interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Briscoe revealed that he’s still looking for his footing when it comes to being a singles competitor.
“I’m feeling better every day. I’m getting my footing underneath me as a singles guy. Starting to learn how to pace and tempo. Tag wrestling, I go in there guns blazing until I’m out of ammo and then I tag out, Jay comes in guns blazing while I reload until he needs to tag out. You don’t have that option in a singles match You have to pace yourself and the tempo has to be different. It’s almost more of a strategic approach just being a tag guy for so long and having that ingrained into me as wrestler, it’s a whole different ballgame.”
Elsewhere in his interview with Fightful, Briscoe said that the FTR/Briscoes trilogy was the swan song for The Briscoes. Check out his full comments on the series of matches by clicking here.
