Tony Khan Confirms Jay White Will Be Out For ‘A Long Time’

On the April 5th episode of AEW Dynamite, Jay White confirmed that he was sidelined with a hand injury. White was scheduled to compete in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s tournament.
On television, The Death Riders were credited for White being injured.
Speaking to Robbie Fox on My Mom’s Basement, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed White will be sidelined for a long time.
“Jay White is one of the best wrestlers in the world and got injured along the way. He is out, and unfortunately, is going to be out for a long time,” said Tony.
White was involved in the AEW World Title picture throughout the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, stepping up against Jon Moxley and the Death Riders before going down with injury.
Fightful Select reported on July 25th that White could be sidelined for the rest of the year.
From Fightful Select:
Jay White has been out of action for the last several months with a hand injury that he sustained in a match against Kevin Knight. However, those that we speak to haven’t heard that he’s close to a return, in fact, they’ve heard the opposite.
In fact, those that we’ve spoken to claim that Jay White had also been dealing with a shoulder injury. Sources in the company have said that White had been weighing whether or not to get shoulder surgery, though we haven’t heard if that decision was made. If so, it’s possible he’d miss the rest of the year.
While White is sidelined, his presence remains felt on AEW TV as Austin Gunn and Juice Robinson brought back Cardblade, a cardboard cutout of Jay White. He is joined by Fully Carded Colten Gunn, which debuted with Colten being injured.
Fightful will continue to update fans on the status of White when more is known. We wish him the best as he continues to recover.
