Matt Hardy Believes WWE-Karrion Kross Situation Is Legit, Wonders How Long He Can Sustain His Buzz For

Matt Hardy comments on the buzz surrounding Karrion Kross.
Kross has been a consistent topic of conversation in the world of wrestling as of late, with fans discussing his departure from WWE as well as his possible return to the promotion.
Speaking on the latest episode of his The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy spoke about his past experience with Kross.
“He’s very good at keeping his name in the headlines, I can say that. I like Kevin, I like Killer/Karrion Kross. I’ve never got to interact with him a lot, I’ve got to interact with him some. I got to work with him one time at Future Stars Of Wrestling, which is pretty cool. That was his home base and I would go out there and do quite a few shots back in the day. We had a fun deal that one time we worked out there.”
Then, Hardy revealed that he thinks Kross’ contract actually did expire and that the situation is not a work.
“We’ve never been at one place for a long amount of time together, but I’ve always been curious and intrigued by his process because he is a guy that does kind of push the boundaries of what is real, what is fake, what is fiction, and what is reality. He’s good at mixing that up in pro wrestling. I think he’s done a great job doing this because there’s a lot of people that were certain that this was a big work. I think with the way everything has gone down, I think his contract has expired. That’s my professional take on it just from looking at the scenario. It could be something bigger at play if that is the case and they’ve done this pitch perfect. I think it’s going to be really interesting to see how long his obsession from the fans is sustained. I think that’s kind of what the WWE is going to pay attention to as far as if they’re going to bring him back or sign him up or do whatever. I think that is kind of the most important issue in all of this, how long can this buzz around Karrion Kross be sustained. It’s going to be interesting. I mean, if I was him, I would get out there on the indies and I would start doing really unique stuff. I would try to make it seem like anything is possible if you’re Karrion Kross. All that’s going to do is get more buzz and he’s going to need ways to get more buzz on his name and keep headlines being generated about him.”
Jon Alba brought up a good point, noting that Kross said some unflattering things about WWE during his interview with Ariel Helwani. Alba stated that if the situation was a work, Kross probably wouldn’t have said negative things about the company. Hardy agreed with this take.
“I do agree with that. I don’t think WWE would want to do anything that would make them sound poor, would make them sound like they’re making poor decisions or have someone that is inept. I could understand if you were going to try and create some sort of work where you have this guy that has this ground swell of fans behind him and then you to go, hold up, what if we play this out where it seems like we’re not going to give him that and his deal is about to run out, but then all of the sudden he exploded back on the scene and then the people feel like they made it happen because they were so invested in this guy. I can see the mindset behind that, but with that being said, a company does not want to tarnish anything in that company to try and push forward this angle that they’re doing. With all that being said, I think what is going on right now is that he has been released from his deal. I think it’s just going to come down to his momentum and this groundswell of fans that are behind him is sustainable to force WWE’s hand and make them hire him back.”
Karrion Kross recently stated that he was originally set to appear on the Raw after SummerSlam. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
