Thunder Rosa: AEW’s Women’s Division Is Different Than 2019, We’re Growing Together

Thunder Rosa compares the women’s division in AEW in 2019 to how much it has grown since then.

Thunder Rosa was one of the pivotal performers in AEW during the promotion’s formative years. Six years since the company’s inception, Rosa now says she’s proud of how far the division has come.

Speaking to Contralona, she says she’s happy to see new performers who haven’t had the chance to shine on TV before getting the opportunity to do so.

“Well, they are giving opportunities to women who haven’t had the chance to be on television consistently. One of them is Queen Aminata, who has been on every Wednesday, which has helped her popularity a lot. We’re talking about Skye Blue coming back, Julia (Hart) is there, Thekla, Taynara (Tay Conti), there’s a variety in the women’s division, and they have the chance to be on TV. They have the chance to try something new and show what they’ve been missing all this time because some of them were injured or took time off for personal reasons. I think it’s growing; it’s completely different from what it was six years ago, and we’re all growing together, and I’m very proud of the things they’ve been able to achieve and are achieving right now.”

Asked if there were anything she would change about the division, Rosa says she can’t think of anything to change because, if she did change anything, it could hinder the division’s growth, and she wouldn’t be the performer she is today.

“I don’t know, it’s a question with many layers, very difficult to answer. I believe that, honestly, in my experience, I wouldn’t be the person I am if things were different.”
