Hangman Adam Page Overcomes MJF To Remain AEW World Champion At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

Hangman’s reign continues.
The semi-main event of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door featured the AEW World Championship match between MJF and the champion Hangman Adam Page. Per the stipulations, the title could change hands by countout or disqualification.
MJF was able to get Page to agree to those terms in addition to his contracted title shot no longer being in play by threatening to set Mark Briscoe on fire. Hangman agreed to the terms to prevent harm to Briscoe.
One of the spots in the title match saw Page deliver a ‘Dead Eye’ to MJF through a table. Towards the end of the match, MJF pushed Page into the referee and proceeded to low blow the champion while the referee was down. MJF hit his ‘Heat Seeker’ finisher, and the referee counted three because he did not see Hangman’s foot on the bottom rope.
Mark Briscoe made his way out to the ring to go after MJF, but security stopped him. The referee went on to reverse his decision and allowed the match to continue. MJF pulled off another sneak low blow, but it did not secure him a three-count.
Another attempt at stealing the AEW World Title was made when MJF used his CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship as a decoy to distract the referee. He also had the case that carries that AEW World Title shot contract and hit Page with it, but Page kicked out.
MJF got caught by the referee trying to use his Dynamite Diamond Ring. The referee took the ring to ringside, so Page grabbed the case that carries the title match contract and hit MJF over the head with it. Page followed up by hitting MJF with a Dead Eye and Buckshot Lariat to retain.
