Paul Walter Hauser States That He Had Wind Knocked Out Of Him When Powerbombed Onto Thumbtacks At ROH Death Before Dishonor

The actor/wrestler recapped his experience.

A Fight Without Honor match was on the bill for ROH Death Before Dishonor. Q.T. Marshall battled with actor Paul Walter Hauser.

The Golden Globe Award-winning actor joined Ring of Honor commentator Ian Riccaboni and AEW/ROH owner Tony Khan at the post-show media scrum and stated the following about his match:

“What a dream come true. I’ve been where you’re sitting and I’ve been in the stands my whole life and buying the merch and evangelizing, preaching the gospel of professional wrestling, and man, when All In happened, when this company came together and to see what Tony’s done, I was just an instant fan because at the end of the day, this guy’s provided opportunities for so many people, and you know, times are tough. I don’t think there’s any secret that the economy’s in a weird place, the world’s in a weird place. In Hollywood, where I come from, there’s all these layoffs and stuff so, to see this guy opening these doors, spending this money and creating this world, I’m just very, very indebted to you (Tony Khan) as a fan, and to be a tiny part in tonight’s show was unreal.”

He then spoke about the story between him and Q.T. Marshall. Hauser thinks they told a good story.

“Weirdly enough, I wasn’t as nervous as I became excited, and I really believed the story we were telling. The kind of underdog outsider in the world of some of the best wrestling stars alive. I think we told a good story and at the end of the day, whether you’ve been tuning in long enough to know the whole alcohol in the face thing. QT (Marshall) and I have spoken backstage about that. As far as I know, that is a shoot-accident. That was not a planned thing. He was not trying to be mean. I appreciate him coming to me about that, and I just felt like whether you were with us from the beginning or you were just tuning in tonight and didn’t know what to expect, we were able to tell a story in the ring and that’s a feat into itself. That’s not always easy.”

There was a point in the match when Marshall gave Hauser a powerbomb onto thumbtacks. There was a delay in the action as Hauser laid dormant on the mat. The in-ring action eventually resumed. Hauser shared that he got the wind knocked out of him.

“Hand to God, I didn’t even feel the tacks. I felt the powerbomb, and the moment I was laying there with the wind knocked out me… didn’t have to sell much there.”

Hauser is the reigning Proteus Champion of PROGRESS Wrestling. He’s held that title since April. Hauser has wrestled for MLW, ACTION Wrestling, DEFY Wrestling, and The Wrestling REVOLVER, among other promotions.
