Frankie Kazarian On Protecting His Flux Capacitor Move: If You See It Every Match, It Loses Its Luster

Frankie Kazarian discusses his love for ‘Back To The Future’.

Throughout his entire career, Kazarian has integrated his love for ‘Back To The Future’ into his wrestling persona and move-set. Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Kazarian talked about his love for the franchise.

“We’ll go with that. Yeah, man. We’ll go with that. Maybe I’m a time splitter. Yeah, maybe I’m a time splitter just like [KUSHIDA]. That guy doesn’t age either. I feel better than I ever have and I feel better than
I did in my 20s. In addition to that, I’m obviously a massive mark for the Back to the Future movies. So early on, especially when I was the Future Frankie Kazarian and it was all Jigawatt Kick and the Back to the Future Adam, the Flux Capacitor and all that. Yes, I’ve been doing this almost 28 years. So it’s weird because I kind of do feel like a time traveler because some of those early matches feel like just yesterday, but they were in the last century. So it’s kind of crazy man.”

Speaking about his Flux Capacitor move, Kazarian talked about his choice to only use it once or twice every year.

“Mine’s a little different. Yeah. I mean, those guys that do that now, they jump and stand and do it. Mine’s never been very straight. I’ve always tilted a little bit which made it different. That move originated from the Spanish Announce Team, the SATs. Myself and when I teamed with Nova, Mike Bucci, we did that as a team. Those guys did it first, we did it. When he got signed and I did a singles matches, at that point they’d never seen anybody do it by themselves. So I tried it and I hit it the first time and it became kind of my thing. That was going on 20 years ago. Nowadays you see it a lot more. Back then, you didn’t really see moves like that. Now it’s one of those moves that it’s kind of my ‘break glass in case of’ move. I don’t break it out as often as I need to and also because I always try to protect that because if you see me do that in every match, it loses its luster. It’s not as special. So that’s a once, twice a year, maybe move that I break out. But people still talk about that and are always asking about that move. It’s cool that resonates after all these years, man.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Kazarian revealed that Kurt Angle’s favorite tag team match of all time took place at TNA Slammiversary X in 2012. Fans can learn more by clicking here.
