Frankie Kazarian Recalls Pitching Ultimate X Cutter Spot To Christopher Daniels, ‘There’s Nobody Else I Would Trust To Do That’

Frankie Kazarian recalls pitching Christopher Daniels on a big move.

At TNA Victory Road in 2007, Christopher Daniels, Elix Skipper, Homicide, Jay Lethal, Frankie Kazarian, Petey Williams, Puma, Senshi, Shark Boy, and Sonjay Dutt competed in an Ultimate X gauntlet match.

Daniels ended up winning the bout, but as most fans will know, he was also on the receiving end of a cutter spot that still gets talked about to this day.

Chatting with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Kazarian recalled pitching Daniels on the insane move.

“I remember exactly when the conversation happened. That was at a time when TNAs fighting to be its own brand, to get on the map as its own brand and we’re doing some really cool stuff and the Impact Zone
is white-hot. Those Ultimate X matches, we were kind of trying to top what the guys had done in the previous one. Everyone was trying to try to one up. I remember CD and I had just gotten into Orlando that morning on a red eye and we were driving from the airport to the hotel and just talking about ideas. I said, ‘Man, I have a crazy idea about doing a giant—’ I was gonna do a springboard, didn’t do that, ‘A giant top rope cutter.’ I said, ‘But I need to do it with somebody that can hang upside down.’ He immediately goes, ‘I can hang upside down.’ I go, ‘Okay,’ and I told him and he goes, ‘Let’s do it.’ I was like, ‘Okay.’ He’s so good. I knew the minute he said, ‘I can hang upside down,’ I’m like, ‘Okay, then I’m doing with it.’ There’s nobody else I would trust to do that and I think he could if you asked him, he would say the same. He wouldn’t trust anyone to do that. Because that’s one of those things that if you’re a second off or a few inches off that could go disastrously wrong. I don’t even think we went over it. I think it was a matter of he went out as far as he was going to go. He’s like, ‘If I hang from here, is it cool?’ ‘Yep, that’ll work,’ and we did it. Jay lethal was involved a little bit. He was kicking CD and it worked. That clip is so cool because the place goes nuts There’s a mosh pit that forms in the front row, guys are dowsing guys with beer and stuff. It’s awesome, man. It’s one of those cool moments that I’m always gonna be associated with you know?”
