James Gunn Says He Originally Wanted Dave Bautista To Portray Peacemaker

Dave Bautista was almost Peacemaker.

As most fans know, John Cena is in the midst of his tenure with the Peacemaker character. Cena first portrayed the character in the 2021 film ‘The Suicide Squad’. The following year, the ‘Peacemaker’ television show debuted to rave reviews.

The second season of ‘Peacemaker’ is in the midst of airing, with the fourth episode releasing on Thursday, September 11.

As it turns out, Dave Bautista was the original choice for Peacemaker, with James Gunn recently saying that he wrote the role for ‘The Animal’.

“I wrote the character of Peacemaker for him, and we offered him the role, but [he] was offered two movies, and we weren’t paying him a lot, so he had to go where the money was.” Gunn said on the latest episode of The Howard Stern Show.

Bautista portrayed Drax The Destroyer in James Gunn’s ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ trilogy for Marvel Studios.
