On the September 12th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Drew McIntyre met Randy Orton in the main event, with McIntyre coming away with the victory. After the match, Cody Rhodes would make his return to the company following McIntyre’s attack on him last month, laying out a challenge to McIntyre for WWE Wrestlepalooza.
Following WWE SmackDown going off the air, Cody would cut a promo to the crowd that would be filmed and uploaded by the WWE Champion to his social media following the conclusion of Friday Night SmackDown.
“Thank you guys so much, there’s more action tonight but before that happens I just wanna tell ya, it’s been a hell of a month for me. I had a new baby girl, Lehlani, I got cast as Guile in Street Fighter, and tonight I got to come back home, thank you guys very much.”
