WWE NIL Recruit Slane Glover Reflects On Full-Circle Journey Inspired By Rey Mysterio And Daniel Bryan

WWE Next In Line recruit Slane Glover discusses how his wrestling dreams came full circle thanks to WWE’s NIL program.

Slane Glover is a male cheerleader at Ohio State University and is the first male cheerleader recruit in WWE’s program for college athletes. In a new interview with Jim Varsallone, Glover discusses how an early WWE fandom of wrestlers like Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) and Rey Mysterio inspired him to pursue cheerleading in the hopes of becoming a better acrobat and one day making it into the square circle so he could fly off the top rope.

“It was the craziest full circle moment,” he began. “Watching Rey Mysterio and Daniel Bryan on the top rope, ‘Yes! Yes! Yes!’ The high flyers, and seeing all of that, was the catalyst to make me want to learn how to flip and be an acrobat and get into cheerleading. Having that catalyst making me go through the journey of being a cheerleader, which is very niche, you know? It’s not always a route taken a lot. To then get recruited by one of the largest universities, athletic universities at that, Ohio State, and have that opportunity to cheer as a representative of Ohio State. Then, in my first year there, having the WWE come through to bring this opportunity to athletes in college, was the craziest thing ever, because I’m just riding the wave. I’m following my heart. I’m doing what I love, and for that to come full circle and be like, ‘Hey, we want college athletes.’ That WWE came to my school to say that was just the craziest thing.

“It was kind of at the back of my head at the time. I never believed that’s what I could do, but all glory to God. That’s a God-sent opportunity being like, ‘Slane, here it is, man. Take it,’ because again, the full circle thing. I’m like, ‘Boom!’ I’m going for it. It was just the most insane experience ever.”

The WWE NIL program is producing stars. The current NXT Champion, Oba Femi, came through WWE using the program.
