Leon Slater On Facing Je’Von Evans At Bound For Glory: It’ll Be Like Wrestling Myself

Leon Slater discusses his upcoming match with NXT Superstar Je’Von Evans at TNA Bound For Glory.

Leon Slater facing NXT’s Je’Von Evans at TNA Bound For Glory is a proper cross-promotional dream match. The high-flying young talents will meet in the ring for the TNA X-Division Title. They both have tremendous respect for each other and are looking forward to having a classic match befitting the X-Division legacy.

On the Battleground Podcast, Slater explained that he doesn’t have a strategy for the match on October 12. he just sees a kindred spirit in Evans and wants to put on a banger match.

“So the match came about. I’m not sure exactly what the inner workings were, but I feel like me and Je’Von have been on these kind of parallel paths, right? Where I’ve been killing it in TNA, he’s been killing it in NXT. We’re both young. We both have similar energy. We both carry ourselves a certain way. We but talk a certain way. We’re both 21-year-olds. So there’s only a matter of time before these parallel paths all of a sudden become perpendicular, if that’s the right word, and the path begins to cross, and when the time was right, and obviously, he popped up on the screen at Victory Road. I was hoping it would be him for Bound for Glory. That’s what I was aiming for. So I’m glad we finally got it. I think for me, it’s going to be a super cool experience, because I’ve never met someone that’s so similar to me in the way they operate and the way they wrestle. So it’s almost going to be like wrestling myself, or like wrestling in a mirror at Bound for Glory, which I’m very, very much looking forward to. I think everyone’s been excited for a reason. People are expecting a classic, and I think that’s what we’re going to deliver.”
