Nick Jackson: It Feels Like Everyone Is Retiring, It’s Like A Whole Generation Is Wrapping Up

The Young Bucks talk retirement.

As of 2025, the Young Bucks have been active performers in the world of wrestling for over 20 years. In the past, the duo has been open about being in the late stages of their careers and how they could be wrapping things up within the next couple of years.

Speaking with Jon Alba of The Takedown on Sports Illustrated, Nick Jackson talked about the recent wave of retirements in wrestling when asked about the recent bout between The Dudleys and The Hardys at TNA Bound For Glory.

“It’s been really weird. Especially in the last few years, it feels like everyone is retiring. It’s like become a trend and it’s sad because like you said, it’s like an end of an era for a lot of these guys, especially for us seeing The Dudleys and their tag career was pretty shocking. I’m glad they got to do it on their own terms because a lot of guys don’t get to do that. It’s weird. Seeing our friend Christopher Daniels retire just this year. Sting and Bryan Danielson, John Cena’s ending his career very soon. It’s very weird, it’s like a whole generation is wrapping up. We’re not far behind it, which kind of scares me.”

Matt Jackson followed that up by saying that he’s happy for everyone involved in the Bound For Glory match.

“I think it’s a reminder of your own mortality in a way where you know, we’re at that chapter in our career. So yeah, it is emotional and you talk about the Hardys and the Dudleys, that rivalry along with Edge and Christian at the time, those three — they changed tag team wrestling. We grew up watching Matt and Jeff break tables and jump off ladders and that’s what us believe that maybe we can do this one day too. We can be a brother duo too, those guys were a lot like us. It is weird seeing these guys wrap up, especially wrap up a rivalry like that. It’s wild. I’m happy for all them, I’m happy they got to do it on their owns and I know they’re probably pretty satisfied with how it turned out.”
