Tony Khan Says Samoa Joe Still Has ‘Years Left’ With AEW
Tony Khan comments on Samoa Joe’s legacy in AEW and responds to a call from Conrad Thompson to give Samoa Joe the same type of send-off that AEW gave Sting in 2024. While Khan was honored by the thought, he’s not ready to think about Samoa Joe winding down his career just yet.
Tony Khan recently previewed AEW WrestleDream during an appearance on Jeff Jarrett’s My World YouTube Channel. During the discussion, Conrad Thompson asked Tony about Samoa Joe and Joe’s recent comments, where he explained he doesn’t want to have a John Cena-esque retirement tour. Khan explained that he believes Joe is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, but wants to focus on what Samoa Joe is doing currently for All Elite Wrestling.
“I think that when the time’s there, we don’t want to think about that yet, because I think Samoa Joe still has years left with AEW, which is great, and I think we’ll focus on Samoa Joe is one of the top stars in wrestling right now and and if and when the time ever comes for Samoa Joe to hang them up, I hope that AEW will be able to pay great tribute to somebody that is one of the most accomplished stars ever in AEW, and one of the great champions in wrestling, which is Samoa Joe.”
Samoa Joe will challenge Hangman Page for the AEW World Title at AEW WrestleDream on October 18. Check out the full card here. We will have full coverage of the event as it occurs.
Tony Khan also recently called Joe a first-ballot AEW Hall of Famer. Read more here.
