McKenzie Mitchell Open To Wrestling A Match Under The Right Circumstances, ‘I’d Have My Michael Cole WrestleMania Moment’
McKenzie Mitchell has never taken a bump inside the wrestling ring, but she’s willing to change that and is even open to competing in a match.
McKenzie Mitchell currently works for TNA Wrestling as their ring announcer, but she was the backstage interviewer for WWE NXT for several years. In all her time around professional wrestling, she has never stepped inside the ring as a competitor or experienced an accidental bump, which announcers are sometimes subject to.
Speaking with Scott Fishman for SEScoops, Mitchell admitted that she would be willing to take a bump and even compete inside the ring and have a moment like Michael Cole did at WrestleMania 27. However, it would need to be under the right circumstances.
“I have never taken a bump, I will say that. In all of my years in professional wrestling — I’ve been in wrestling for 10 years. I have never taken a bump. Now it is something that you say in wrestling, ‘Never say never.’ So I always have to say: never say never. I would like to take some kind of bump, whether it’s in a match or whether it is just behind the scenes, just so when I have kids one day, I can say, your mom did that one time, and it hurt really, really bad.
“I think I would want to, because I just would then get to be able to relate to what these athletes do, week in, week out, putting their bodies on the line. I have been approached several times about having a match, and for me, it’s always just a matter of, I think I’m a better talker than I am a would-be wrestler. I did grow up an athlete. I was a cheerleader, I was a dancer, and I played volleyball, so I was very athletic growing up. If the right opportunity would present itself, maybe I would have my Michael Cole moment at WrestleMania. You know what I mean? We all remember that moment. So, never say never, but it has to be the right opportunity.”
