Mustafa Ali Remembers Early Ideas For WWE’s RETRIBUTION Stable, Sonya Deville Being Suggested As A Leader
A new revelation for the RETRIBUTION faction.
The RETRIBUTION faction existed in WWE from 2020 to 2021. The members consisted of Mustafa Ali, Donovan Dijak (T-BAR), Mason Madden (Mace), Shane Haste (Slapjack), Michin (Reckoning), and Mercedes Martinez (Retaliation).
Ali reflected on that stretch of his career while he was doing a virtual signing for K & S WrestleFest. He remembers the early ideas and concepts for the group and stated that there were talks about there being a female leader. Ali said Sonya Deville’s name was thrown out there.
“I think the original plan was there was no original plan, right? So, I heard a bunch of things about at one point, there might have been a female leader. I think Sonya Deville’s name came up and this and that.”
Deville is no longer with the company after it was decided not to renew her contract. Deville, real name Daria Berenato, had been with WWE for a decade. Deville stated that she is retired from wrestling ‘for now.’
