Maven comments on if he experienced racism in WWE.

Over the last week, D-Von Dudley had revealed that he experienced racism from Jim Ross during the pair’s shared time in WWE. Racism in the company has been a topic of conversation several times in the past few years, and now another former WWE superstar has discussed if they experienced racism in the company.

While speaking to TMZ Sports’ Inside The Ring podcast, Maven was asked if he had experienced racism during his time in WWE, with Maven joking that people had plenty of other reasons to hate him other than the color of his skin.

“If I did, they, I mean, I think they had other plenty of other reasons to have heat towards me just by the way I came into the business. I mean, we hear of Tough Enough now and, however many seasons they’ve done. When you look at guys that were graduates of Tough Enough, the Miz, John Morrison, Ryback, guys that did more in the business than I did, you see how successful it was. But when I came in, I mean, they had no clue and guys hate me for coming in that way. So they had plenty of other things to hate me for other than my peanut butter complected skin. They didn’t, on the hate ladder, they hadn’t reached that high up on the rump and if they did, hell, it was something, I mean, I grew up in Virginia and in the- born in the damn late seventies. I had already, I had already seen my fair share of racism. So, they weren’t going to hurt my feelings.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Maven spoke about WWE ticket prices ‘pricing out’ loyal fans. You can read more about that here.
