Joey Janela: I’m Not The Asshole I Portray On The Internet, I’m A Worker

Joey Janela is a worker.

Janela has been a controversial figure in the world of wrestling for years at this point, as he often says exactly what is on his mind or pokes at fans on social media.

Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful for a new interview, Janela made sure to let fans know that he’s not actually the asshole that he portrays on the internet.

“I’m not the asshole I [portray] on the internet, guys. I’m a worker. I work at 24/7. If I go on Twitter and I say, ‘Run into traffic. Go get hit by a bus because you don’t think my match is good,’ just think in the back of your mind that that’s not this Joey Janela talking. That evil, conniving, smelly, snarky piece of trash. But in real life, I smell fucking great. I wear Sauvage every day, one the best colognes in the world. I’m nice to kids. I’m nice to animals. I would never tell someone in public to go get hit by a bus unless they really piss me off. But what you see on Twitter is not what you get in real life.”

Janela continued on and said that anyone who claims he killed Sabu can go get in a plane crash.

“What you get in real life is a very cute, young, handsome boy who 100% didn’t kill Sabu, fuck you for saying that. Fuck you, because you could go get hit by a bus. You could go get in a fucking plane crash if you said that to me. Go get in a fucking plane crash, and don’t survive like that guy did in India, that sole survivor of that plane crash. Don’t survive like Ric Flair. Die in the flames if you believe that I killed Sabu, or you listen to Jim Cornette, or anyone saying whatever, that kratom is like 10 times as strong as fentanyl and you have to snort it, inject it, and not drink it as a herbal tea that people drink every day to get off opiates. I don’t know about it. I’ve never taken kratom in my life.”

Janela continued on his frantic tangent, saying that he doesn’t hate actually the ‘Deadlock better’ people.

“The teenage girls who like Takesha and hate me and like hate GCW and think Deadlock is better, you go, ‘Deadlock better, Deadlock better,’ and you have anime girls in your profile pictures, I don’t mean what I say when I say get hit by a car. Deadlock is great I want to wrestle there. Hit me up, John Blud, please book me. Get me out of GCW. I’m just kidding. But anyways those little teenage girls or people pretending are 47 year old men with Sasha Banks / Mercedes Monet in their profile picture that hate me and then I say go play Frogger in real life—I don’t mean it. But anyways, I’m feeling good, been sober for a fucking year now. I don’t touch anything, I’m ready to go.”

Janela finished the interview by joking that he’s going to take the AEW World Championship and rename it to the Sabu Championship.

“I’m coming back to AEW tomorrow. I’m wrestling Kenny Omega and Okada in a three-way match. He got the scoop now for me. I’m coming in to wrestle in the stadium. I’m winning both belts and then I’m gonna go on to the main event and I’m gonna wrestle Hangman and Moxley in another three-way match. I’m gonna have both belts. I’m gonna unify them and I’m gonna rename the AEW belt the Sabu Championship. RIP to the fucking goat. This is the greatest interview of all time. Please hire me, anyone but Court Bauer. I will never wrestle for you. Billy Corgan, I won’t wrestle for you either. Because I don’t really feel like it. Because he’s bald and for some reason, it’s cool to hate on bald people. WWE, I’ll be a coach there. I’m going to be chilling. Actually, I’d be a good coach.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Joey Janela talked about Tony Khan and how he has changed in recent years. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
