Young Bucks Contemplated Returning As Babyfaces At AEW Dynasty, ‘I Don’t Know If We Can Squeeze Any More Out Of This Heel Thing’

The Young Bucks nearly returned to AEW as babyfaces.
At the Dynasty pay-per-view in April, the Young Bucks made their long-awaited return to AEW, ending their six-month hiatus from the promotion after losing the AEW World Tag Team Championships to Private Party.
Many people thought that the Bucks would return as babyfaces, but that was not the case, as they aligned with Jon Moxley and the Death Riders at the Dynasty event. But as it turns out, Matt Jackson had thoughts about it.
“When we came back in April I was like, ‘Maybe we need to come back as babyfaces. We’ve done all we can do as heels.’ I pictured the lights being restored and then maybe we had Moxley in a BTE trigger and we BTE trigger him and turn babyface. I’m like, ‘I don’t know if we can squeeze any more out of this heel thing…’ here we are seven months later we got a whole other half a year run as bad guys. And who knows how much longer, right?” Matt Jackson told Vice for a new interview.
Jackson continued on and said that he’s really proud of the work that the Bucks have been putting out.
“So, it’s been cool to to be able to take this story to the next level the way we have. I’m really proud of what we’ve gotten to do week by week with it. I think we wanted to explore something different and try something different because we’re always trying different things. That’s what keeps us in the center of the conversation.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the Bucks commented on the introduction of Women’s Tag Team Championships in AEW Check out their full comments here.
