Big Boom AJ: AJ Befumo And Big Boom AJ Are Very Much The Same Person

Big Boom AJ discusses the character he presents in entertainment being the same as who he is in real life.

At AEW Full Gear last year, Big Boom AJ would make his All Elite Wrestling debut on the Zero Hour pre show for the event, taking on and defeating QT Marshall in singles action. Since then, AJ has competed in a couple more matches before being set to compete once again at AEW Full Gear 2025 later today.

While speaking to Renee Paquette in a new interview on Close Up, Big Boom AJ was asked if it is difficult to jump between his character and who he is in real life.

“I gotta tell you the truth, Renee. Not really, because AJ Befumo and Big Boom AJ are very much the same person. So I mean, when I came up in professional wrestling, I was told that the best character is when you play yourself, but you just play yourself a little over the top. So Big Boom AJ is really just AJ a little over the top.”
