Kris Statlander: If My Entire Reign Is Me Solidifying Myself As A Champion, Then So Be It

Kris Statlander comments after defending her AEW Women’s World Champion at AEW Full Gear.

At AEW Full Gear over this past weekend on November 22nd, Kris Statlander would put her AEW Women’s World Championship on the line against Mercedes Mone, finally coming away with the victory over Mone in a title match in her third attempt.

While speaking in a digital exclusive posted to AEW’s social media platforms, Statlander noted that if she has to spend her entire reign solidifying herself as AEW Women’s World Champion, then so be it.

“I am your AEW Women’s World Champion and yet, when I won this, everyone said, ‘wow, Kris, that’s so great. But you didn’t win it one on one, so you should probably make sure that you actually deserve it.’ So I went on and I beat Timeless Toni Storm one on one. But was that enough? Of course not. Mercedes Mone comes out and challenges me. ‘You pull this off against a woman who’s beaten you twice, then it will really solidify yourself as a champion,’ and I just did and yet, I bet you all still don’t think it’s enough. So if my entire reign is me solidifying myself as a champion, and proving myself worthy to all of those who only believed in me when they thought that I didn’t have a chance, then so be it. So to every woman in AEW or outside of AEW or who will ever be in AEW, don’t say that I didn’t warn you.”

Following AEW Full Gear, Ricochet would jokingly suggest that he would be going after Statlander’s title. You can read more about that here.
