Hiromu Takahashi Issues Title Match Challenge For NJPW New Year Dash
Takahashi calls his shot.
New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s World Tag League tournament is ongoing, and after the November 26th show, Hiromu Takahashi and his partner, David Finlay, delivered their backstage comments.
The winners of World Tag League will get their shot at the IWGP Tag Team Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 20 on January 4th, 2026. Takahashi stated that he and Finlay are aiming to secure their spot on the Wrestle Kingdom card.
He would go on to add that for New Year Dash on January 5th, 2026, at Ota-City General Gymnasium, he wants to team with Gedo and challenge for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. HOUSE OF TORTURE’s SHO and DOUKI are the current champions.
Takahashi and Gedo teamed up with the 2025 Super Junior Tag League tournament and only put two points on the board. They finished second-to-last in the A block.
Takahashi is also the reigning GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion of Pro Wrestling NOAH. He’ll be defending the belt on January 1st at NOAH The New Year 2026 against AMAKUSA.
