Gail Kim On Possibly Coming Out Of Retirement For Another Match: Never Say Never, But It Would Have To Be Something Really Special

Gail Kim comments on possibly returning to the ring.

Aside from one match in 2023 and one match in 2019, Gail Kim has been retired from in-ring competition in 2017. Since then, Kim has remained active in the business, serving as an on-screen figure and a producer.

Speaking with Toronto Sun for a new interview, Gail Kim was asked about potentially returning to the ring in the future.

“Of course you miss the sport of wrestling, I miss having that adrenaline rush. I don’t mind doing some physicality spots here and there if I’m ever booked for anything. A full match is something entirely different, I guess I would say never say never but it would have been something really, really special. For me to get conditioned for a full match, I don’t think people realize how hard it is to train for the cardio of a professional wrestling match.”

After speaking about the cardio struggles that she faced when training for her match with Tessa Blanchard in 2019, Kim said that she’s protective of her legacy and body of work.

“Also, the last thing, which is the more important thing, I care about my legacy. I care about my body of work that I left behind and what fans remember of me. If I’m coming out of retirement, this is going to be the last thing they remember. I don’t want them to think I’ve slowed down, I don’t want them to think I’m rusty or whatever it is. I’m very hard on myself when it comes to that.”

Back in October, Gail Kim spoke about being contacted by AEW to wrestle after she was fired from TNA. Check out her full comments here.
