Tony Khan: Lots Of Other Promotions Wanna Bring In Ricochet, He’s A Hot Booking Right Now As The AEW National Champion

There was a Casino Gauntlet match at AEW’s Full Gear pay-per-view to crown the first-ever AEW National Champion. Emerging victorious was Ricochet. Ricochet has a title defense coming up at Ring of Honor’s Final Battle pay-per-view against Dalton Castle.

Upon the introduction of the title, AEW President Tony Khan stated that the title will be defended in other promotions outside of the AEW banner. While appearing on the Battleground Podcast, Khan said there are lots of promotions that want to bring Ricochet in.

“We’ve got a new National Champion, Ricochet, who will be defending that title all over the world and somebody that not only AEW fans respect, I believe, as a great, great wrestler, but somebody that is a huge name in wrestling and a great person to represent AEW here on our TV shows but also traveling to other promotions. In America, companies like Ring of Honor, but also New Japan STRONG, and traveling to Mexico with CMLL and lots of other promotions wanna bring in Ricochet. He’s a hot booking right now as the National Champion. So, that’s a great thing for us…”

On the lead-up to the crowning of the AEW National Champion, Tony Khan revealed that he chatted with NWA owner Billy Corgan because the NWA has a National Heavyweight Championship.
