Leon Slater To Challenge Oba Femi For NXT Championship At NXT New Year’s Evil

TNA’s Leon Slater is challenging for the NXT Title.

With Je’Von Evans choosing to get his NXT Title opportunity early, it left a spot open for the NXT New Year’s Evil special on January 6th. Evans earned that title shot by winning the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge at Deadline. Ricky Saints cost Evans his title match against the champion Oba Femi, so Femi was heading into New Year’s Evil with no opponent.

It was decided that there would be a four-way match with the remaining men’s Iron Survivor Challenge field, Dion Lennox, Myles Borne, Joe Hendry, and TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater, to determine who would get the title match at New Year’s Evil.

That four-way took place on the 12/16 NXT, and it was Slater pinning Borne to win the match.

After Slater’s win, the champion Oba Femi made his way out to the ringside area to get a look at his challenger. Tony D’Angelo watched that exchange from the stands.
