MVP discusses an impressive feat from Shelton Benjamin that he achieved while he was in high school.

Shelton Benjamin is one of pro wrestling’s greatest pure athletes that have graced the industry since he made his debut in the early 2000’s. At present, Benjamin is now an AEW star alongside The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and MVP).

In a new interview with CHGO Wrestling, MVP told a story about Shelton Benjamin’s athletic prowess in high school.

“When Shelton was in high school, he simultaneously ran a track meet and a wrestling meet at the same time, and he did it because no one told him that he couldn’t do it. There was no coach to say, ‘hey, no, you really shouldn’t do both.’ Because both coaches wanted him. So he ran a track meet. He had a singlet underneath his track gear, and he either won or placed second to his teammate that he said they kind of wanted to. So he finished his heat. Then he leaves the track and goes to the building where the wrestling was, and then he’d go and wrestle and he got to, there was some other kid that was, the big matchup in the bracket was they wanted to see Shelton and this kid, and Shelton’s been sprinting and wrestling and he gets to the final match and Shelton is down on points where he’s about to get ticked. He’s about to lose so bad and Shelton said he just stepped back, mentally adjusted, planted the dude and pinned him, and then won the meet, won the track meet. That night, he said he had the absolute worst cramps of his life. He said he thought he was going to die. Because nobody pulled him aside and said, ‘here, you need electrolytes.’ This guy just did one of the most impressive things I think a high school athlete could do.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, MVP discussed the one time he almost was crowned a world champion. You can read more about that here.
