The Miz Discusses Praise He Receives From Others, Doesn’t Like It When They Preface The Praise By Saying It May Not Be A Popular Opinion
Candid comments from The Miz.
Adrian Hernandez rolled out a new interview with The Miz. As their chat moved along, it was brought up that the likes of Rhea Ripley, AEW’s Kyle Fletcher, and others have praised Miz in media appearances and stated that he influenced them.
Miz stated that it warms his heart when he hears that, but one pushback he has is when people preface the praise by saying it may not be the popular thing to say his name. Miz would go on to say that he would place himself on the Mount Rushmore of WWE’s best talkers of all time.
“So I have two different forms in my brain that goes through this stuff, right? One is like, wow, that’s incredible that I’ve made such an impact on superstars, on fans, on people. That’s amazing. Never in my wildest dreams did a kid from Parma, Ohio, ever think that I would have the success in WWE because I just didn’t believe it. It wasn’t there for me, and then, I took opportunity after opportunity after opportunity and just kept working at it and putting my blood, sweat and tears and doing everything I possibly could to get to where I am today, to get to people to say, ‘Wow, that was a major impact.’ What I don’t like is that people always do it with a, like, ‘I know this isn’t the popular name.’ Almost like a laugh. Everyone says my name and then they’ll be like, ‘Oh, really? Uh, huh. Eh. Interesting. Eh, really?’ And I literally go, ‘Really?…’ 20 years being in WWE, having every title there is to win. I would put myself on a Mount Rushmore of one of the best talkers that WWE has ever had in the history of the company, if not the top 10, and to put the accolades that I’ve been able to put, and some people have to say, ‘I know this isn’t the popular answer, I know this isn’t…’ Or if it’s even the tongue and cheek type of answer, I don’t want that, don’t give me that. Say my name and put respect on it when you say it, and say it with confidence and the fact that yeah, it’s that name, because it is that name, because he is that valuable, because he is that, you know what I mean? So, those are the two sides that go in my brain. So, I could either give you the babyface answer, or the heel answer… But honestly, it always fills my heart when I hear people say, ‘Miz really helped me out,’ or, ‘Miz was a person that I looked to and I still look to to this day.’ So, it’s one of those type of things.”
