Liv Morgan Wanted Her Name To Be Marley After Her Dog

To most fans, Liv Morgan has always been Liv Morgan.

When she first signed with WWE, she used her real name Gionna Daddio at live events. In her NXT debut match, she was billed as Marley…though that was quickly changed to Local Competitor.

“I showed up at NXT one day, I really wanted Marley,” Liv told Stephanie McMahon on What’s Your Story. “I had a dog back home, Marley, and I wanted to name myself after my dog. I was like Marley for one episode on NXT, but it never aired or got cleared. By the time it aired, I was just Local Competitor. I was Penny Pacino for like eight hours. I walked into NXT and they were like, ‘You’re either Liv Morgan or Liv Gallow. Pick.’ ‘Well, shit.’ I picked Liv Morgan because I think we had Luke Gallows and he was established. That’s kind of how it went. I remember not really liking Morgan. I knew Liv was like punny though, so I could play with that. I didn’t like Morgan, but it grew on me. I couldn’t imagine having a different name.”

At least it’s not Oprah.

Morgan & Roxanne Perez are set to challenge Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
